Adoption of E-Vehicles: Boon or Bane

Abstract

The E-vehicle domain has recently garnered significant attention both in academia and the practitioner world to deal with the challenges of unsustainability and climate change. The majority of the studies in the literature have focused on the adoption benefits of E-Vehicles. However, certain sustainability-related challenges are associated with the adoption of E-Vehicles are still unattended in the literature. This study attempts to address this gap in the literature by investigating and identifying the sustainability risks associated with E-vehicle adoption. A systematic literature review is conducted to synthesize the existing knowledge system to propose taxonomy of sustainability risks in the context of E-vehicles and identify the risk treatment strategies for mitigating the identified risks. A generic framework for managing sustainability risks in E-vehicles is developed. The findings will help researchers and practitioners to understand and manage the sustainability challenges associated with E-vehicles to achieve the ultimate objective of sustainable development.
