This material examines some of the Bulgarian children's feature films created in the 1970s.
Attention is focused on music as an integral part of cinema, but especially on its character and content, created and oriented towards the children's audience. In this sense, music is present mainly through the song - the symbiosis of sound and word, carrying both the sensual charge of children's thinking and imagination, and the lesson, morality, embedded in the poetic text. The combination of emotionality, melody, simplicity of musical and verbal expression lead not only to complementing the screen images, but also to entering the depths of the diverse, perfect and unique world of children. These movies carry in their themes and imagery the moral messages of the time and society in which they were created, affirming values such as friendship, compassion, wisdom, empathy, revelation. The issues presented in the films may seem distant and alien to modern children and youth, absorbed by the dynamics, nervousness and technology of the modernity of the new 21st century. The music written by notable Bulgarian composers who worked and created at that time remains understandable, accepted and sung by generations, including the modern one. Listening to music is a factor that influences, shapes and develops musical hearing, musical taste, imagination and creativity in children. Preparing future listeners is an important and responsible task that expands knowledge in many aspects and creates habits and skills for attention, concentration, patience, and comprehensiveness.
