Abstract

This article discusses new approaches to creating a learning environment and intellectual means to support education. The study aims to develop a competency-based ontology for forming a personal learning trajectory. In higher education, competency-based approaches aim to improve interaction with the labor market, boost the competitiveness of specialists, and update content, methodology, and environment. In this article, the main steps of creating ontologies are described, starting with the collection of information about the subject area's order of operation and culminating with testing the model's consistency and reliability. Ontological models define the main objects and their relationships, which will make it possible to determine the relevant disciplines based on the competencies being developed, the character of the student, and the course results. Model consists of three interrelated components: the learner model, the educational program model, and the professional standards model. Semantic technologies are used to build the proposed models, Protégé is used to implement them, and OWL DL is used to describe the ontologies. In this way, a competency-based approach contributes to creating a more effective, adaptive and personalized educational process by providing an ontological model for creating a learning trajectory. This research is funded by the Science Committee of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan (Grant No. AP19680002). The study provides a basis for creating personalized educational programs. The authors discuss the practical significance of the model and prospects for further development within the current educational landscape.
