Developing Talent in the Biopharmaceutical Sector: The Evolving Role of Degree Apprenticeships

Abstract

This talk draws on emerging qualitative research exploring employer perspectives on degree apprenticeships in the biological sciences across biopharmaceutical companies and contract research organisations in the UK. Based on in-depth interviews with senior industry professionals, the study provides a sector-specific lens on how degree apprenticeships are understood and utilised within a highly specialised sector. The talk will explore the evolving role of biological sciences degree apprenticeships in shaping talent pipelines and reflect on how they are understood and utilised, highlighting both their strategic potential and the practical challenges shaping their adoption.
