Abstract

This study looks at the socio-psychological and sociological aspects of how non-binary people live in a society that primarily sees gender in terms of binary classifications. Traditional gender roles and child-rearing behaviours: even by women: continue to perpetuate patriarchal systems: notwithstanding contemporary changes in gender discourse. Based on theoretical frameworks developed by Kimberlé Crenshaw: Tajfel and Turner: Talcott Parsons: and Fausto-Ster1ing: the study explores the ways in which Intersectlonalltyz functionalism: social identity theory: and the social construction of sex all work together to marginalise non-binary people. By adhermg to patriarchal standards: it contends that women unintentionally support structures that marginalise and stifle queer The study investigates how queer people conceptualise equality: shape their identities: and cope mentally and socially within tight binary frames. The study also emphasises how structural exclusion functions through larger cultural and social hierarchies in addition to gender norms. In the end: it makes the claim that non-binary identity is a historically disregarded and socially despised reality rather than an exception. The study urges femmist and sociological discourses to change inclusively in order to actively acknowledge and incorporate non-binary viewpoints within the larger gender justice movement.
