Corporal Punishment, Academic Stress and Disruptive Behaviour

The aim of the present study was to determine the impact of corporal punishment on academic stress and disruptive behavior. Moreover, it also investigated such differences in boys and girls and also examined the relation between the variables. To consider the level of the variables 120 samples were chosen by purposive sampling method from pointed areas in Dhaka city. In order to measure the dependent variables a self-developed demographic questionnaire, adapted versions of the Corporal Punishment Scale, Student Stress Scale and Disruptive Behavior Scale was used. Findings indicate that there is a significant difference between girls and boys in their paternal corporal punishment. Further the findings indicate that there is no significant difference between boys and girls in their maternal corporal punishment, academic stress and disruptive behavior.Again the findings further show that corporal punishment is positively correlated with academic stress and negatively correlated with disruptive behavior.
