Abstract

Gender equality remains a critical issue within the entrepreneurial ecosystem, with women significantly underrepresented, particularly in leadership and decision-making roles. This article explores the current landscape of gender equality in entrepreneurship, with a particular focus on the tech industry. It highlights the ongoing disparities and challenges that women encounter when entering and striving to thrive in entrepreneurial roles. Through an examination of contemporary statistics and data, the article provides insights into gender dynamics within professional spaces, especially within technology-driven sectors. Building on research from a UCL (University College London) dissertation* that analyzed the opportunities available to male and female entrepreneurs in the UK and Turkey, this piece assesses the effectiveness of gender-specific acceleration programs and the underrepresentation of women among investors. Insights from several podcast series, that explore gender equality issues across various sectors, are also incorporated. The article further offers strategies and tactics aimed at inspiring and empowering more women to embark on entrepreneurial ventures in tech, contributing to the ongoing discourse on fostering a more inclusive and equitable entrepreneurial environment.
