Towards Gender Equity and Women’s Representation in Academic Philosophy

This presentation is part of a research project, which is supported by TUBİTAK, with the code 124K502 and the title “Women in Philosophy in 100 years of the Republic of Türkiye: The Evaluation of the Presence of Women in Education and Research in Philosophy at Higher Education.” The research aims at the analysis of the presence of women in Philosophy in Turkish Academia in four aspects: i) the numeric presence of women in department faculties,
ii) the thematic presence of women in the departmental course curricula and research works,
iii) the in-dept interviews focusing on the lived experience of women in philosophy departments, and iv) the workshop on the improvement practices and suggestions for the future presence women in philosophy. This presentation aims to share and discuss the findings of the research project, more specifically the third and the fourth aspects of the research in order to receive feedback from the international audience of the conference and to interact for more sharing of the experiences and suggestions for more gender egalitarian Philosophy Departments in academia at the transnational level.
