The Challenges of Effective English Language Teaching in Saudi Schools: An Exploratory Study

Abstract

Teaching English language effectively is essenitail in promoting learners' production of the language. Although the Ministry of Education has spent a tremendous work to develop the teaching of EFL in public schools, still some issues could hinder some plans. This study aims to explore in the Saudi context the difficulties that face EFL teachers and prevent them from applying effective methods to enhance learners' production of the language. This study used a quantitative questionnaire to collect data to achieve the purpose of this research.  The participants of this study included 121 EFL teachers from different cities in Saudi Arabia. The main result revealed that the main challenges were related to used required textbook and the time of the class.
